I remember the first time seeing that photo as a meme and wondering to myself “who gives a fuck?!”

But more so than that, after thinking about it, whoever took that photo did it with the intention of shaming him.

I wonder why no one is asking questions about who took the photo. Because that person should then be shamed for not working on TV. It should work in reverse, right?

This world is full of pieces of shit.

Geoffrey Owens is an awesome actor. And the fact that someone decided to take a picture of him at his job, it was published, and it appeared that the publishing was to intentionally harm his reputation is disgusting. Moreover, it was great that his friends and the people who cares about him came to his defense to prevent the continuation of the possibly sabotaging of his life. Though it appeared that his life was over because he has a regular job, he let it be known that he is not ashamed to have a regular job that is flexible while continuing to pursue his passion to get parts on TV shows. And his life was never over- Great job Geoffrey Owens!

That has a "REAL" job, that is doing the right thing, taking care of his family. They always always putting a black man. Keep up the great work, providing for your family. What's the big deal about black actor Geoffrey Owens having a grocery store job? I don't know why people think he's supposed to be getting retirement money from The Cosby Show LOL. Geoffrey hasn't done a lot of acting. He said the money from The Cosby Show don't last until he dies LOL. I don't see nothing wrong with actors having a job when they quit doing television and movies. I wouldn't be surprised if Sabrina LeBauf who was Geoffrey's wife Sondra on The Cosby Show has a job. I wouldn't be surprised if Tempestt Bledsoe and Lisa Bonet of The Cosby Show who played Vanessa and Denise have jobs. They haven't been in several television shows and movies. Malcolm Jamal Warner, Raven Symone and Keisha Knight Pulliam are the only kids from The Cosby Show who's had success with acting. The thing I disagree with Geoffrey about is how people don't wanna do some jobs because they think those jobs are beneath them. People have the right to choose what jobs they want. If black people don't wanna work at fast food restaurants, Target, Walmart, grocery stores, factories, warehouses, construction and cleaning jobs. There's nothing wrong with that. Black people wanna have jobs that pay a lot of money. Black people can't take care of themselves with a low job salary. I can understand that. It costs a lot of money to have a apartment, house, car, clothes, shoes and food. Black people aren't gonna find high paying jobs riding the bus or train. Black people need cars to get to high paying jobs in the suburbs where white people live. Geoffrey Owens made me laugh imitating Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show at 1:22 when Bill and Malcolm Jamal Warner came in the house. Bill was looking at Geoffrey like he was crazy LOL. Tempestt Bledsoe and Keisha Knight Pulliam were trying to tell Geoffrey to stop imitating Bill because Bill was behind him LOL.

You know what Geoffery, you for 26 years after the ending of your role on the Cosby show – consider this: you are still sane, you are not on skid-row, you have not hung yourself or put a bullet in your brain like many other actors and famous people have done so because they could not handle their loss of fame and fortune! For that I give God Praise and you should too; for even the Bible says that if a man does not work than he can't eat 2 Cor 3:10; and if a man does not feed his family and provide for them he is worse than an infidel 1 Tim 5:8, it is God that gives us the power to get wealth Deut 8:18. Godliness with contentment is great gain 1 Tim 6:6; the love of money is the root of all evil 1 Tim 6:10 and finally if you will humble yourself God will exalt you in due time, but if you are proud the Lord will abase you 1 Peter 5:6; Prov 28:25. Case in point the Dump in the WH he is the epitome of all EVIL and PRIDE and he is going down into the depths like a millstone!

Awesome actor, I hope he lands a good steady role on a new sitcom that does well, now with all the job prospects. He's very fluent, so i guess he hasn't lost his acting prowess.

I believe anyone man who works to support his family is a good man. unless that man is a woman who had sex change. then that is really a tran gendered who worked as a man with vagina. a woman who worked as a man who is a woman in genetic realm is not a man but a mental man in the mind of hers his and mental society of men who are really trans but could be sensitive men or women or neither like a friend who identifies as a midget labrador. oh bummer i cant keep up.

I like this guy alot — but I am disappointed that Bill Cosby didn't help him. (or if he did help him.. not enough) I know it's not Cosbys JOB to be helping brothers he used to work with.. but maybe Geoffrey didn't ask?

I am actress and I have had several jobs in between gigs and to also support my acting career. This is not at all uncommon. This is just the first of a shock for most people, but if they only knew this applied to every actor out there. This man is not the only one. But what a lovely and charming person he is. It will be easy to cast him in anything or for any company to hire him.

I think this is awesome; so many people think that If you do a certain job; that stepping down will be shameful. I've been in the Welding Industry for over 30yrs, and if you see a Welder become a Welders Helper, he or she will get a shameful look. My goal in life was never to become a Welder, I enjoy seeing people eat and enjoy food. So last year my wife and I had the opportunity to get a food truck built and it is so enjoyable to cook and see others enjoy eating the food, and with doing this, it has motivated others to start living out there dreams.

People need to realize that most actors are not rich. Most actors are not wealthy like Clooney, Pitt, or Cruise. Good for him for working! By the way, I love Trader Joe’s. Best customer service. So this speaks to Mr. Owen’s character.

You're only job shamed if you are ashamed of your job. If you have a normal job there's nothing wrong with it. If someone tries to shame you and you are bothered by it, then you need the help, not them. Everyone thinks they're the victim for some damn thing and if there is no real offense, they'll invent one. Job shaming. For Christ sake. Don Lemon chasing another bone. Is this mediocre actor comparing himself to Al Pacino? Oh now I've heard it all. How could anyone even recognize him? He doesn't even look the same. Lemon, the ever condescending slob. Wishing that this actor gets many, many jobs. Why should he? Trader Joes is one of the finest retail stores you could ever hope to work for. And Don, your days to the Home and Garden Department are drawing ever closer, what with CNNs reviews lower than the Home and Garden's channel.

The bigger issue would be if he felt above doing these jobs. The fact he took it and was doing it shows that taking care of his family outweighed his expectations of fame.

Only a loser tries to shame somebody for earning a paycheck. I guess it's better to sit around overdosing on drugs because you're not a star anymore. He never said he was ashamed, and didn't bring animosity to the interview for someone doing that to him, not to mention he may have children that would also have to deal with what was done. Owens is a real man, through and through.

How can anyone shame you if you yourself are not already partially ashamed? Working an honest job is not shameful and I think that adding the term shame to what happened is a deeper insult. It was bullying, ridicule, mockery but that's not the same as shaming someone.

Well, he only played a supporting role; he wasn't a member of the Huxtable [spelling?] family. So it's not like he was an irreplaceable actor. He may have been paid several hundred or a couple of thousand dollars per appearance. His situation isn't like the cast of Friends, Seinfeld, or Big Bang. If you devote your youth to acting or sports and you fall short, you better have something to fall back on. In his case, it's a willingness to work hard. Nothing wrong with that.

The great millionaires and the stars, for example. Andrew Carnegie, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Arnold Schwarzenegger has worked in small jobs at one time, that does not make you ashamed, better to live quietly without debts, without borrowing

I love how he was wearing his Trader Joe's name tag with pride! It's funny people think he made "millions" from his role on the Cosby Show. He was never a TV or movie star. He was never rich. He never made a rich man's income. Most actors don't make a living through acting so they need other sources of income. Geoff is the man! I love Trader Joe's!
