Dave Chappelle on the Jussie Smollett Incident | Netflix Is A Joke

– [Dave Chappelle] I’m just
afraid of being attacked. It happens to the best of us. Don’t ever forget what happened to that French actor. You know who I’m talking bout? Jussie Smollett. He’s a very French, very
famous French actor. (audience laughs) Y’all never heard of Jussie Smollett? (audience laughs) Jussie Smollett is a actor from France. (audience laughs) And he became famous on
a show called Empire. One night, he was in Chicago late at night and was the victim, (laughs)
(audience laughs) he was the victim of a
racist and homophobic attack. You see, Jussie Smollett is (audience laughs) gay and he is black. Not just French. (audience laughs) Oh, it was a crazy story. Apparently, when he was walking down
the street late at night two white men came out of the shadows with MAGA hats on and beat him up. Tied a rope around his neck, called him all kinds of n**** and put some bleach on him
and ran off into the night. (audience laughs) The shit was like international news. And everybody was furious, especially in Hollywood. It was all over everybody’s Twitter feed and Instagram page. “Justice for Jussie!” and all this shit. (audience laughs) The whole country was up in arms. Was talking about it all
the time on the news. And for some reason, African Americans, we
were like oddly quiet. (audience laughs) We was so quiet about the shit that the gay community started accusing African
American community of being homophobic
for not supporting him. What they didn’t understand is that we were supporting him with our silence. (audience laughs) Because we understood that this n**** was clearly lying. (audience applauds) None of these details added up at all. He said he’s walking down
the street in Chicago and white dudes come up to him and say, “Hey man, aren’t you that
f*** n*** from Empire?” What the f***? Does that sound like
how white people talk? I know white people, they
don’t talk like that. Are you that f*** n*** from Empire? They would never say that. It sounds like something that I would say. (audience laughs) If you’re a racist and homophobic you’re not even gonna
know who this n*** is. You can’t watch Empire. (audience laughs) Black people never feel
sorry for the police but this time we even
felt sorry for the police. Can you imagine if you
was a police veteran taking this kids police report? “Okay Mr. Smollett, please
tell me what happened? “Alright, two a.m. You
left the house at two a.m., “it was minus 16 degrees. (audience laughs)
“Alright. “You were walking? You
were walking. Alright. (audience laughs) “And where were you going? “Subway?” “Sandwiches?” (audience laughs) “That’s when the men approached you? “Did you see them? Did you have any– “Okay, what did they have on? “MAGA hats?! (audience laughs) “MAGA hats on in Chicago? “Excuse me one second Mr. Smollett “Frank, come here for a second. (audience laughs) “Find out where Kanye West was last night” (audience laughs)

The divide between critics and audiences has never been greater. In fact, they may never see them as a reliable source ever again (with the exception of maybe one or two out there) but it’s quite alarming how audiences no longer take them as seriously as they used to, and for good reason. They’re nothing more than mere mouthpieces these days.

One of the best specials ever. The sad victimhood warriors literally can't take a joke, especially good ones where they are called out on their hypocrisy.

I've always supported Dave Chappelle from the beginning. He could do no wrong in my eyes. But when he the kid got raped but at least it was by Michael I thought it was the craziest thing I've ever on TV in my life. I've heard racist stuff but at this point I can ignore it. But kids are of no color to me. I don't think Micheal Jackson done these things but to say it's ok because he's the king of Pop is negligent to so many victims who had a predator who thought the same thing. They say even white Nationalist are praising this stand up and are now using it to justify their cause. So are child predators. But who you don't see is women are mothers sisters and daughters. If you think what he said is valid then maybe you actually have sympathy for child predators

The entire act is all about race. How stereotypical of the Black comedian to continue to make everything that exist in the universe about race. Just how race conscious can the Black community be?

That juicy case was hilarious to me. I kind of believed it at first, until I read the part about the noose and the "aren't you that faggot nigger from empire" shit. Common sense tells you there's no way in hell anybody willing to beat his ass for being black and gay certainly wouldn't know who the fuck he was, hell if I saw this dude out on the street I wouldn't recognize his ass either. Chappelle's joke combined with the one Charles Barkley said about him makes the whole situation too funny.
Then finding out it was hired Nigerians that did it, makes it even better.

Can someone please explain to me why Dave Chappelle calls Jussie Smollett French and more so why the audience seems to find that funny? Is it sort of an inside joke or something I’ve missed out on? Genuine question.

Seems to me Dave turned his anger towards the "cancel culture" into comedy. He's purposely pushing all the social issues to the absolute breaking point as if to say " come get me motherfuckers, I fuckin dare you" I love it! I love Chappelle. The very beginning hes singing that price song, as if to say "well I'm gonna drop bombs for about an hour, and you mutherfuckers will decide my fate I guess, bring it on" brilliant.

But for real though, has Dave Chapelle ever been funny after his comeback? I've haven't yet seen him being actual funny like he was during his early years or even on his show since his famous comeback scene
