Top 10 Scariest Horror Movies of 2016

Hey how’s it going with you guys?! Welcome
to our first RankingTV top 10 video! My name is Joey, and today we’re counting down the
Top 10 horror movies of 2016. While 2015 sadly wasn’t a great year for horror movies, 2016
has a good chance to make up for last year’s let-downs. Are you ready? Let’s get right into it! What if the apocalypse broke out in Jerusalem
and some American teenagers documented the whole thing with their Google-glass-like eyewear?
Well then you’d have Jeruzalem, which kicks off this list at number 10. Trapped between the ancient walls of the holy
city, they must survive long enough to find a way out as the fury of hell is unleashed. While this movie can’t compete with the top movies in our list, it’s certainly an easy and entertaining watch for your Saturday night on the couch. In at number 9, it’s THE PURGE 3: election
year, which will release on July 1. Imagine that for one night, all crimes are
legal, including murder. While the concept sounds intriguing and drew in audiences initially,
The Purge 2013 didn’t live up to its conceptual potential. So why should you be excited for The Purge
3? Well, because the 2014 sequel, The Purge: Anarchy, was a huge surprise in that it completely
blew 2013’s out of the water. While still little is known about the third installment,
it’s quite possible fans are going to get much more bang for their buck than just another
purge story. Next, in at number 8, it’s THE OTHER SIDE
OF THE DOOR, which released on MARCH 4. A desperate mother learns of a ritual that will
supposedly bring her dead son back for one last goodbye. She travels to an ancient temple
in search of a door that apparently serves as a portal between two worlds, but when mum
disobeys an order to never open the door, all hell breaks loose. The other side of the
door is suspenseful, jumpy and downright creepy, and who doesn’t like a good old ghost child
movie? We know we do! Up next, in at number 7, it’s The Boy, which
released on January 22. The Boy is about an English nanny named Greta,
that’s hired to take care of the 8-year-old Brahms. When she arrives, she is shocked to
find out that the boy is actually a life-sized doll. There’s a strict list of rules for the
education of Brahms, and when Greta starts neglecting this rules, strange and disturbing
things start happening. We can’t get enough of great creepy doll movies, so in our opinion,
The Boy is a welcome addition to the genre. In at number 6, we have The Witch, which released
on February 26. The
Witch is set in New England in the 1630s,
in which a family is torn apart by what appears to be witchcraft. While some will find the
content dry and slow to start, those interested in the reality of the dark history of witch
hysteria are going to find this truly disturbing and well done. The Witch is spooky in its
own way and avoids nearly every conventional horror cliché there is. We are definitely
excited! Halfway through the list, in at number 5,
it’s Before I Wake, which released on April 8. Before I wake follows a couple who have recently
lost their son and decide to adopt an eight-year-old foster child named cody. They soon find out
that Cody’s dreams become reality, and must figure out what to do before one of his nightmares
becomes deathly. Horror fans can expect a fast-paced thriller that they won’t want to
miss out on. The Forest, which released on January 8, enters
into our number 4 spot. At the base of Mount Fuji in Japan lies Aokigahara,
also called the Suicide forest, a real-life place which has become infamous for its many
suicides. The forest tells the story of Sara, played by Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer,
who is a girl whose twin sister has disappeared in the forest. Despite being warned many times,
she decides to enter the depths of the forest to discover the truth about her sisters disappearance.
This film is suspenseful, claustrophobic and downright creepy. It’s certainly another 2016
must-see. In at number 3, it’s Lights out, which will
release on July 22. As a young girl, Rebecca was never really
sure of what was real when the lights went out at night. Now, her little brother Martin
is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that jeopardized her safety and sanity.
Holding a mysterious attachment to their mother, the supernatural entity has returned with
a vengeance to torment the entire family. Lights out is scoring through the roof during
test screenings and is expected to be very well received by horror fans all over the
world. We certainly can’t wait to watch it ourselves! We’re almost there, but first, in at number
2: The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, which will release on June 10. Following directly on the events of the first
movie, the second installment follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they travel to England
to investigate the case of the Hodgson family, one Lorraine refers to as the most terrifying
in her career. You can expect shivers, demons and lots of Jumpscares, horror fans certainly
have something to look forward to with The Conjuring 2. Now finally, let’s see who picks up our number
1 spot: it’s Amityville: The Awakening, which releases on April 15. Inspired by the allegedly haunted house in
which Ronald Butch DeFeo, Jr. murdered his family with a rifle as they slept, the Amityville
story has been retold in numerous ways. This latest version sees a single mother, Joan
and her three children move into the cursed house only to discover that it contains a
terrifying secret. The move comes at a time when Joan is desperately trying to save money
in order to pay healthcare expenses for her sick son, yet there is even more trouble around
the corner as she soon comes to discover that they are living in a house where a number
of horrific murders took place. We hope this movie can live up to all the hype surrounding
it, because it certainly has all the scary potential to deserve the number one spot on
this list! So guys, that was our list for the top 10
