After me thinking the original is one long macho parade… this movie has actually suprised me with some emotional intelligence – here we see Maverick, a hopeless adrenalin junkie and his life basically stagnating: still driving fast movers like a madman, still being a captain because you can't trust him to stick to the program and still living like a teenager. And yes the film is right: his sort will die out because in 30 years from now fighter jets will be flown exclusively by AI…

…but scenes of flying on the deck at mach one? F*** YEAH, COUNT ME IN!!!! 😀 😀 😀

It seems so unrealistic. No one with 30+ years of service would be still captain and still flying frontline, state of the art fighters in combat missions (supposedly). In any serious airforce of the world. Either he would be kicked out or retired, if he would not be eligible for promotion, due to any reason, not to mention behavior. Otherwise in order to be 30+ years in service and still be a captain he would have a desk job pushing paper after paper.

The mission was considered to be near-suicide. Of the ten men sent, four returned. Of those four, three wrote books about what happened. Of those three, two were published. And of those two, only one got a movie deal. This is the story of the men who attempted to make that movie.

During 1st phase at PI after lights out, a few other recruits and I were whispering about what or why we joined The Marines. We all had our stories but Tyco had the best. Some were because family traditions others had no plans for after high school and here comes Tyco.
Y'all remember that scene in Top Gun where Goose and Maverick playing volleyball against Iceman and Slider?
    We're like, yeah???
Well, that's the reason why I joined.
I believe it was Farmer who said, you do realize that was The Navy right?
Tyco says, yeah I fucked up and walked into the wrong recruiting office and The Marine recruiter was very convincing, said we'd have pizza parties every Friday night, so here I am on a Friday night and not a single slice of pizza in sight.
    Miss those days, SEMPER FI

Tom Cruise…Scientologist extraordinaire, globalist, and politically correct, Hollywood actor; why do I want to see this movie? What's the point? He's old and he flies with women? Great! So do more than half of the pilots on Earth. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz……..
